Under the weather
Well... Strep throat attacks again. 3rd time this school year I've gotten it...I feel like I'm a strong candidate for tonsil removal or something! I was too sick and I missed the first excursion our program had scheduled to Girona. I would've visited the Dali museum and the medieval town of Figueres, but instead I figured out the Spanish health care system. It was pretty simple and I even got my own translator since the doctor didn't speak English. Also the drugs here are super cheap! I got my antibiotic, ibuprofen, some other random prescription and a new toothbrush for 15€.
I feel a little better today, so I may go grab some food just to get out of the house for a bit. I also just bought tickets to the FC Barcelona game on Wednesday which I'm super pumped about! Barca is life here. Every little kid is wearing a shirt, backpack, scarf and anything else with the team logo on it. Also my roommate and one of our friends won a beer pong tournament at a local bar and they won tickets to Carnaval in Sitges on Fat Tuesday, so I bought one to go with them! It's going to be crazy! We also planned a trip to Ibiza which is a small island off the coast of Spain. I am still trying to get my spring break planned but it's difficult with so many people wanting to go everywhere. Oh!! We finally had our first paella in Spain! It was delicious. The only problem was we could not crack open the dang shrimp. They were so slippery too, and once we sort of opened it the insides looked to disgusting to eat, so we just stuck to the oysters and muscles which I buried in rice so I wouldn't have to look at them either. But all in all I was not disappointed! I also found this amazing chocolate store on my walk home from class and bought some macaroons! I've always wanted to try them so i bought some! They were amazing and everything else in the store looked incredible as well.
That's about it for now. Hopefully I will get some exploring done this week!
