First Day
Today is the first day of classes! Woohoo. My first class is Cross-Cultural Management and later today I have International Business. My classes are at the Eixample Campus, which is a branch of UAB only for international students. I'm a little bummed I don't have classes with locals, but there are still people from all over in my classes. I was actually excited to start classes because I love being in a routine. But this weekend we did a lot of cool things. Saturday night we went to dinner at a restaurant called Oleum, but it is inside of the Catalunya Art Museum, which is on top of a giant hill so we could overlook Barcelona. It was beautiful and the food was amazing. I had chicken stuffed with veal served with mashed potatoes, and we of course had Cava for the table. Cava is the spanish equivalent of sparkling wine. Also, this museum we were in is apparently one of the places Picasso studied- so you know thats cool I guess. (SUPER FREAKING COOL)
I did spend a lot of the weekend sleeping, people here go out super late and come back early morning like 6 am. I am not used to that at all so it has taken a toll on me. We've visited many restaurants and tapas bars, but I also try to eat at home to save money. My host mom makes a sandwich for me everyday and I usually have an apple and a muffin to go with it for lunch. Breakfast is kind of a free for all- I usually have yogurt and fruit and sometimes toast and cream cheese. Dinner is the most fun because Marta, Stephanie and I all sit down and eat together. Last night we had tortilla patata which is a very common Spanish cuisine. She usually makes a meat, a starch, and then rice and salad/carrots also, and of course bread with everything. I enjoy the food, but sometimes I just want to go to KFC and get some chicken fingers (there is one right by the apartment), but i try to resist as much as possible.
Also, I've finally gotten the hang of the metro. It's a little confusing, but luckily my stop is kind of a hub for a lot of trains. There are some creepy people at night, but I never go without my roommate and we are both hyper vigilant.
Thats really all I have for now...
