My City
Hola Friends and Family and Fools who follow my blog,
I've had a pretty exciting week! I guess I shall start from the very beginning (a very good place to start). So on Sunday Stephanie, Abby- one of my favorite people, and I went to the beach! Even though it's not warm enough for swimsuits, it's still unbelievably beautiful this time of year. We brought a blanket and drinks and snacks, and had the mecca of people watching. One lady, who I just decided is Dutch let her 7 and 9 year old sons swim in the 50 degree water, after stripping down on the beach to change into their trunks. Meanwhile the mother smoked her cigarettes and got a massage from one of the 1000 Chinese ladies wondering the beach selling 5 euro massages...It was just bizarre. I also enjoyed the beach because everyone brings their dogs there and I just cant get enough of some puppies. I seriously just want to walk up to everyone and say "Puedo tocar tu perro?" (can i touch your dog) but I feel like people might stare at me more than they already do. Apparently I just give off an American vibe because they just stare at me, I mean I know I'm a sight for sore eyes, but you'd think they'd at least hide it! Anywhoooo... On Tuesday my friend Brittany suggested we go to the Bunkers, which supposedly has the best view of the city. So I was obviously down and it did not disappoint. It did require a minute hike, but the view was breathtaking. It's also not very well known, so there aren't a ton of people up there all the time. But unfortunately, a group of about 20 fourteen year olds decided to crash our party and they were super annoying so we just left after about an hour. I will definitely be making the journey up there more often.
Wednesday was an exciting day for me. I went to the FC Barcelona game! I've been waiting so long to go. We got our tickets through this travel group so we could attend their pre and after party and use their transportation. I was so excited all day long for the game, until the monsoon came. It was miserable I'm not going to lie. It poured. Luckily once we arrived at the stadium we snuck into covered seating so it wasn't too bad. The atmosphere there is amazing! Even though it was super empty I still got goosebumps. I cannot wait to go when its not raining and the stadium is packed. And of course we won!! It was so much fun. Then yesterday Stephanie and I got some tapas and just hung out. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT I also booked some trips. I booked a trip to Sevilla the first weekend of our Spring break for Semana Santa which is a giant Easter celebration. I'm totally stoked for it. But the trip I am absolutely positively without a doubt dying over is my trip to Poland I booked. I was just chilling at home and my friend Abby messaged me and said "We're going to Poland and visiting Auschwitz." I immediately consented. We were talking today about how we didn't even think about going to Poland like it wasn't even an option and then she was like I have to go then invited me. It's definitely a thing that has been on my bucket list. Some people think its weird, but I feel like it's a piece of history everyone should see. I know that it will be so humbling and eye opening. And I love history anyway- blame my Dad! The only thing is I'm so excited I dont want to wait 2 months to go!
Also another exciting thing happened! My friend from Texas landed in Granada! We are planning on meeting up all over the place, and I obviously want to visit her ASAP!
Wow this is a long post- my apologies. But I still have to talk about my amazing day today! Today Abby, Brittany, Chelsea, Paige and I (all my American dawgs) went to the Labyrinth on the outskirts of Barcelona. It was so beautiful, it kind of reminded me of the Dallas Arboretum. There were all sorts of Greek statues, and I hunted down Poseidon so I could take a Delta pic with it...and there was indeed a real maze inside. It was awesome and I want to visit it again and again. I posted loads of pics on facebook too! Tomorrow we are planning on going to Montserrat, which is a mountain close to Barcelona. Apparently it involved hiking, so hopefully my grandma hips hold up!
Okay thats enough for now. I miss everyone! Please message or email or text me! I love hearing from everyone!
