Carnaval is upon us!

Hola chicos!
So in the states it's Mardi Gras, but here we have Carnaval and boy do they do it big in Spain! I'll start with my day yesterday and back track through my week!

Yesterday in the Born neighborhood they had a giant celebration! First we watched traditional Catalan dancers dance, and then they picked people out of the crowd so I got to learn a dance too! It was great. Then there was a parade which I called the parade of colors, and each section of the parade was a different color and they had "mascots" on the lead carriage. Basically these were the people in the most outrageous costumes being as obnoxious as possible. It was highly entertaining. Then once the parade route reached the end, each section stood on their stage and they released giant orange balloons and had a million confetti cannons. It was awesome!!! I posted plenty of pics so go check them out! Tomorrow I am going to Sitges, which is the New Orleans of Spain so I am super pumped, I have my costume ready and everything!

So this weekend I didn't do anything too exciting. I saw the magic fountain which is AMAZING and it's in front of Montjuic which is a beautiful museum on the mountain. I also had authentic Mexican for the first time in a long time it was superb and definitely hit the spot. I also have taken up spin class and have been frequenting the gym a lot lately. I love the walk to the gym the most. Who knew I'd ever enjoy walking places, let alone the gym. But with lent coming up I'm giving up soda and coffee and I'm gunna whip myself into shape and hopefully my dumb hip problems will go away. Honestly I didn't do a whole lot this week, but my friend Alexsa who I work with is coming this weekend and I'm sooooooo excited!!! She's studying in Granada and it'll be so great to see a familiar face. And she's a blast so I know it'll be a great weekend!

I miss everyone so much! We've finally nailed down our travel plans for after school ends so Mom, Rick and I will very tackling Barcelona, Madrid, London and Paris! I couldn't imagine anything better than that!!

Well adios for now folks! keep in touch
Ellen
