6 weeks left
I cannot believe that in 6 weeks my adventures in Barcelona will come to an end! I still have 2 weeks after of course, but I am in utter disbelief at how fast the time has flown since being here. It's a little disappointing, I haven't accomplished nearly as much as I thought I would. I thought by now I would be completely fluent in Spanish, pshh that was a dream. I also thought that I would be a salsa dancing, paella making, bull fighting Spaniard. Well, I have definitely picked up some of the little quirks of Spain, but I in no way can call myself Spaniard-like. But I don't regret anything and I'm still having the time of my life!
Yesterday we went to Montserrat, which is a nearby place, giant mountain, and monastery. I went with my friends Olivia, Haley, Julian, Keke and Sade. We took the train from Barcelona there, and then we took a gondola from the bottom of the mountain to about half way or 3/4 of the way up. When we got there we visited the Monastery which is very famous for their Black Virgin Mary. The line to see it was about 500 people long, so we didn't wait in line. We did get to see a Monk pray and sing a hymn, we of course knew none of the words. It was still really cool to see the inside. I don't know how they possibly built it on the side of the mountain, but it is incredible! We then hiked the mountain. There's about a billion stairs to the top, one of my friends also has a torn meniscus and her knee was killing her, and my hips were aching as well, needless to say we didn't make it all the way to the top. Instead we took a different trail that didn't have stairs, but still had incredible views. We also explored the little village around the monastery. It was so beautiful! By the time the others got done hiking, we were all dead. We caught the train back to Arlington and that was all for yesterday. I slept like a baby though last night.
Once again didn't do a whole lot worth mentioning throughout the week, but I've been going to the gym often and I love it. I've been in contact with Steve almost daily exchanging workouts and advice. Of course I'm limited with what I can do with my hip problems, but they aren't holding me back!
Thats really all I have to say for now. Next weekend I'm going to Poland so be on the lookout for my post next weekend!
Love yall!
